Over the summer you used your favorite ski tube everyday
and let's face it, these air filled toys do get abused.
They are constantly flying in and out the wake and at
high speeds. The manufacturers do everything they can
to make a high quality dependable product. They are made
for abuse but everything has it's breaking point and your
favorite towable tube just met it's breaking point. Is
it a point of no return? Can it be repaired or are you
going to have to shell out some cash to buy a new one?
These days just about anything can be repaired and
most of the times the repairs will last quite a while.
If you are like me then you love to save a buck or two.
By doing repairs yourself you can save hundreds of dollars.
You can then take that money that you saved and treat
yourself to something nice!
The most common thing that happens to these air filled
tubes is, a small leak. These leaks are extremely easy
to fix, if you find them quickly. If you ignore the
leak, it will only get worse and if the hole gets to
large, it will be beyond repair.
The hard part can be finding the darn leak! The easiest
way to find the leak, is to take the tube out to the
water. Get yourself a mask and a snorkel because you
are going to have to get in and find this leak. Once
you are in the water examine every inch of the tube
from underwater. The leak will be easy to spot this
way. You will see tiny bubbles coming from it. Once
you find the leak, mark it with a permanent marker.
Now that you have found the leak you are going to need
a repair kit. |
